Engage Education is working with a supportive and nurturing school in Hailsham to recruit a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant for a September 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve success both inside and outside the classroom. The school is looking for a committed and caring individual who can provide consistent support and build positive relationships with pupils.

About the role:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting students to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons
  • Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement support strategies
  • Delivering targeted interventions to support learning and development
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and communication needs
  • Monitoring progress and contributing to pupil reviews where required

About you:

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Understanding of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs, is beneficial
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of individual students
