We are working with a number of diverse and inclusive secondary schools across Haringey that are looking to recruit dedicated EAL Teaching Assistants to support students whose first language is not English.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, linguists or experienced Teaching Assistants looking to gain valuable experience within secondary education while making a real difference to students’ educational journeys.

The Role

As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will

  • Support students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) both in lessons and through targeted interventions.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group language support.
  • Help pupils develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt learning materials where appropriate.
  • Encourage students to participate confidently in lessons.
  • Support newly arrived pupils as they settle into school life.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and the EAL Coordinator.
  • Promote an inclusive and welcoming learning environment.
