Are you an experienced and passionate SENCO looking for an exciting leadership opportunity in a vibrant and inclusive secondary school?
We are working with an innovative and ambitious secondary school in Tower Hamlets that is seeking an exceptional Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join its leadership team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEND professional to lead and develop the school’s SEND provision, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
The Role
As SENCO, you will
- Lead and strategically develop the school’s SEND provision.
- Identify, assess and monitor the progress of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Ensure high-quality, inclusive teaching practices are embedded across the school.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral leaders, senior leaders, parents and external agencies.
- Coordinate Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and annual reviews.
- Support staff through coaching, training and professional development.
- Monitor the impact of interventions and ensure effective use of SEND funding.
- Promote an inclusive culture where all students are supported to achieve their potential.
- Ensure the school remains fully compliant with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
- The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Has experience leading SEND provision within a secondary school.
- Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or is willing to complete it within the required timeframe.
- Has an excellent understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Is passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for young people with additional needs.
- Can build positive relationships with staff, families and external professionals.
