We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a dynamic and inclusive Primary Special Needs School. Our partner school is committed to creating a supportive, engaging, and nurturing environment where children with SEMH challenges can thrive and flourish.
Key responsibilities- Supporting learning: Plan and deliver engaging lessons in collaboration with teachers, adapting the curriculum to meet the needs of children with SEMH.
- Leading interventions: Work one-on-one and in small groups to provide focused learning and emotional support.
- Building relationships: Foster trust and positive relationships with students to encourage confidence and resilience.
- Behaviour support: Promote a calm and inclusive classroom environment, using effective strategies to manage behaviour.
- Team collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement holistic education plans.
- Student progress: Monitor, assess, and celebrate the achievements of students, ensuring their progress is communicated effectively to staff and parents.
- Day-to-day support: Assist with classroom preparation, extracurricular activities, and supervision during breaks and outings.
- A HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- A proven ability to work with children with SEMH needs, including understanding their challenges and how to support them effectively.
- Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and innovative teaching strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- A collaborative mindset, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
