We are currently working with a highly supportive specialist setting in South Croydon that is urgently seeking compassionate and proactive Teaching Assistants to start immediately. The provision supports young people aged 16–25 with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, physical disabilities, complex medical needs, and communication difficulties. The setting is recognised for its therapeutic and holistic approach, helping students develop independence, life skills, communication, and preparation for adulthood within a safe and inclusive environment.
About the Role
- Support students aged 16–25 with:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Physical disabilities and sensory impairments
- Complex communication and medical needs
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support
- Assist students with life skills, independence, and engagement in learning activities
- Support personal care, mobility, feeding, and sensory-based learning where required
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, nurses, and support staff
- Help create a positive, structured, and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Have experience supporting young people with SEND, ASC, PMLD, or complex needs
- Are patient, empathetic, and passionate about inclusive education
- Can build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Are comfortable supporting personal care and physical needs
- Have experience in care, youth work, support work, theatre in education, or specialist SEND settings (desirable but not essential)
- Work well within structured and multidisciplinary environments
