Engage Education is recruiting Cover Teachers to work across a range of welcoming and high-performing secondary schools in Lewisham from September 2026. Whether you’re looking for long-term placements or the flexibility of daily supply, we have opportunities to suit your availability.
This role is ideal for experienced teachers, Early Career Teachers (ECTs), or qualified teachers returning to the classroom who enjoy variety and can quickly build positive relationships with students.
The Role
As a Cover Teacher, you will:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects to students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences.
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and productive classroom environment.
- Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently in line with school policies.
- Adapt your teaching style to meet the needs of different classes and learners.
- Provide clear feedback to departments and teaching staff following each lesson.
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding, professionalism, and student wellbeing.
We’re Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching within UK secondary schools.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Confidence teaching across a variety of subjects.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A flexible, reliable, and professional approach.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
