Engage Education is recruiting a Cover Teacher for a secondary school in Ashford, Surrey, starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who enjoys the variety of covering different subjects while maintaining high standards of teaching and behaviour.

The successful candidate will be joining a school that has high expectations of its students and is looking for someone who can establish authority in the classroom from day one.

The Role

As a Cover Teacher, you will

  • Deliver high-quality pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects.
  • Create a calm, purposeful and engaging learning environment.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and ensure students remain focused throughout lessons.
  • Adapt your teaching style to meet the needs of different classes and year groups.
  • Follow the school’s behaviour policy consistently and confidently.
  • Provide detailed feedback to departments on lesson progress, attendance and student behaviour.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching in UK secondary schools.
  • Demonstrates excellent behaviour management and is confident working with challenging classes.
  • Can quickly build positive, professional relationships with students while maintaining high expectations.
  • Is adaptable, resilient and able to teach across a variety of subjects.
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
