Engage Education is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a number of supportive and well-established secondary schools in Lewisham from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, Sports Coaches, or anyone with experience working with young people who is looking to build a career in education.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects to students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Support students with questions about the work set while encouraging independent learning.
- Follow school behaviour and safeguarding policies at all times.
- Provide clear feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and lesson outcomes.
We’re Looking For
- Experience working with secondary-aged students in education, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar settings is desirable.
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence leading classes independently.
- A calm, professional, and resilient approach.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people and education.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
