Engage Education is recruiting a Cover Supervisor to join a well-established secondary school in Ashford, Surrey from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong behaviour management skills who is looking to gain valuable classroom experience or continue their career in education.
The successful candidate will supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged with their learning while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and conduct.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects to students in Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Manage classroom behaviour confidently, ensuring a calm and purposeful learning environment.
- Keep students focused and engaged with the work provided.
- Respond positively and effectively to challenging behaviour using the school’s behaviour policy.
- Provide clear feedback to teaching staff following each lesson.
- Build positive relationships with students and contribute to the wider school community.
- We’re Looking For
- Experience working with secondary-aged students in a school, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar setting.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to lead a classroom independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, resilient, and professional approach.
- The ability to think on your feet and adapt to different classroom environments.
- A genuine interest in supporting young people’s learning and development.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
