We are recruiting confident, resilient and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in a busy secondary school in Ashford, Surrey. We have both long-term positions starting in September and day-to-day supply opportunities available throughout the academic year.
This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers and anyone with experience working with young people who is looking to develop their classroom management skills.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
- Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Ensure students remain engaged and complete the work set.
- Support pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Work across a range of subject areas, gaining varied classroom experience.
- Follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding procedures at all times.
The School
This is a fast-paced and rewarding secondary school where resilience, consistency and strong relationship-building are key. The successful candidate will be joining a dedicated staff team committed to improving outcomes for all students.
The role will involve supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including students with SEMH, behavioural challenges and varying levels of academic ability. Full support will be provided by experienced pastoral and senior leadership teams.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Is confident leading a classroom and engaging groups of young people.
- Can remain calm and professional when managing challenging behaviour.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is flexible, adaptable and proactive.
- Has experience working with young people in schools, sports coaching, tutoring, youth work or similar settings (desirable but not essential).
- Has a genuine interest in pursuing a career in education.
