Engage Education is working with a welcoming school in Chichester to recruit a full-time School Caretaker for a September 2026 start. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical and dependable individual to join a dedicated site team and play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented environment for students and staff.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, helping to ensure facilities remain fully operational throughout the academic year.
About the role:- Opening and securing the school premises each day
- Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repair work
- Conducting regular site inspections and health and safety checks
- Ensuring the school grounds remain clean, safe, and presentable
- Supporting contractors and external visitors whilst on site
- Assisting with room setups for events, examinations, and meetings
- Reporting maintenance issues and coordinating repairs where required
- Supporting site security and safeguarding procedures
- Assisting with deliveries and movement of equipment around the school
- Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management
- Practical DIY and repair skills
- Understanding of health and safety responsibilities
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Flexible approach to supporting the needs of the school
- Ability to prioritise workload and respond to issues efficiently
- Full UK driving licence is desirable
- Pay in line with Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), matching permanent staff rates
- Ongoing support from a dedicated Engage consultant
