Engage Education is working with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school to recruit a part-time Catering Assistant for a September 2026 start. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and enthusiastic individual with experience in food preparation, catering, or a similar practical environment to join a supportive school team. The successful candidate will provide practical support to the Food Technology department, helping to ensure lessons are delivered effectively by preparing resources, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and supporting students during practical activities.
About the role:
- Preparing ingredients, equipment, and resources for Food Technology lessons
- Supporting teachers and students during practical food lessons
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised food preparation area
- Ensuring food hygiene, health and safety, and COSHH procedures are followed
- Managing food supplies, checking deliveries, and maintaining stock records
- Ensuring ingredients are stored correctly, including allergen awareness
- Cleaning, maintaining, and safely storing food preparation equipment
- Carrying out basic equipment checks and reporting any faults or concerns
- Supporting the preparation of lesson materials and practical resources
- Assisting with general organisation and administration within the department
About you:
- Experience working in catering, food preparation, hospitality, or a similar environment
- An interest in working within a school or educational setting
- Good understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining standards
- Confident working alongside staff and supporting students
- Able to work independently as well as part of a wider team
- Positive, flexible, and proactive approach
- Willingness to complete relevant training, including Food Hygiene and First Aid if required
