About the role

You will be covering lessons across the school to either relieve classroom teachers for PPA time or for general sickness. No requirement for prior cover supervisor experience, but a degree is required. Some experience with young people is preferred, e.g., supporting workers or youth workers. Behaviour can be challenging, so you must be personable and adaptable to different situations.

Your Role as a Cover Supervisor

  • Manage a classroom and behaviour while ensuring pupils complete the work set during teaching staff absence.
  • Supervise students and ensure they complete set tasks.
  • Manage behaviour.
  • Assist pupils when they have questions.
  • Follow the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies.
  • Collect completed work and hand it to the Head of the Department.
  • Provide feedback on the lesson and pupils.
