Location: Bromley, South East London Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only Start Date: September 2026 Salary: £100–£120 per day (depending on experience)

A specialist secondary education setting in Bromley is seeking a committed Student Behaviour Mentor to support pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral guidance.

This is a rewarding opportunity to become a positive role model for young people and help them develop the confidence, resilience and self-belief needed to succeed.

Working as part of a dedicated inclusion team, you will support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Student Behaviour Mentor, you will

  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and pastoral support for students who require additional guidance.
  • Support pupils in lessons to improve engagement, behaviour and learning outcomes.
  • Work with students displaying challenging behaviour, helping them develop strategies to regulate their emotions.
  • Promote positive behaviour through consistency, encouragement and restorative conversations.
  • Support students returning to lessons following behavioural incidents or periods of absence.
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour and engagement, maintaining accurate records where required.
  • Build strong relationships with teaching staff, families and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, resilience and high expectations.
  • The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will

  • Have previous experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching or social care.
  • Be calm, patient and resilient when faced with challenging situations.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be confident managing behaviour in a professional and supportive manner.
  • Be passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
  • Understand safeguarding procedures and professional boundaries.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.

Experience supporting students with SEMH, ADHD, Autism, trauma-informed practice or behaviour intervention would be advantageous.
