Engage Education is recruiting a Head of Teaching, Learning & Assessment for a leading Further Education provider with campuses across South East London.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ambitious professional who is committed to raising standards, improving learner outcomes, and developing exceptional teaching practice across multiple curriculum areas.
Working closely with senior leaders, curriculum managers and quality teams, you will lead the strategic development of teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring students receive an outstanding educational experience while supporting staff to achieve excellence.
The Role
As Head of Teaching, Learning & Assessment, you will
- Lead the strategic vision for Teaching, Learning and Assessment across multiple campuses.
- Drive continuous quality improvement through lesson observations, learning walks and performance reviews.
- Design and deliver high-quality CPD, coaching and mentoring programmes for teaching staff.
- Use performance data and quality assurance outcomes to improve learner achievement, attendance, retention and progression.
- Work closely with curriculum leaders to improve teaching standards and student outcomes.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives across Further Education, Higher Education and Apprenticeship provision.
- Support curriculum teams in preparation for Ofsted inspections, audits and awarding body requirements.
- Promote innovative teaching approaches, including digital learning and evidence-informed practice.
- Oversee learner voice initiatives to enhance the overall student experience.
- Line manage Advanced Teaching & Learning Practitioners and support the wider quality team.
- Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of teaching and learning.
- We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have
- Significant leadership experience within Further Education or a similar educational setting.
- A proven track record of improving teaching, learning and assessment.
- Experience leading quality improvement strategies that have delivered measurable improvements in student outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, quality assurance and inspection frameworks.
- Experience conducting lesson observations and supporting teachers through coaching and mentoring.
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent).
- A degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to analyse performance data and translate findings into effective improvement strategies.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire and develop staff across multiple campuses.
