An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and resilient Behaviour Manager to join a specialist Alternative Provision supporting pupils across Key Stages 2 to 4. The setting caters for young people with a range of needs including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, permanent exclusion from mainstream education, EHCPs, and those requiring a more personalised and therapeutic approach to learning.
The Role
As Behaviour Manager, you will be at the heart of the school’s pastoral and behaviour strategy, leading on behaviour for learning and supporting pupils to re‑engage positively with education. You will work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, families and external agencies to create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where every young person can succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop behaviour management systems across the provision.
- Support pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours through restorative and trauma‑informed approaches.
- Manage behaviour interventions, reflection rooms and alternative‑to‑suspension provision.
- Monitor behaviour trends and implement targeted support plans and interventions.
- Work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to improve outcomes for pupils.
- Maintain behaviour records, risk assessments, pupil support plans and intervention documentation.
- Provide guidance, coaching and support to staff around behaviour management strategies.
- Lead and line manage behaviour support staff and mentors where required.
- Promote positive attitudes, engagement, attendance and personal development across the provision.
- Be a visible and proactive presence around the school, helping to maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment.
