About the role

Engage Education is recruiting for a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Oxshott, Surrey from the start of the next academic year. This rewarding role involves providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs throughout the school day.
  • Supporting the pupil to access classroom learning and differentiated activities.
  • Encouraging the development of communication, social and emotional skills.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to implement individual learning strategies.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping the pupil develop independence and confidence.
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil and their family where appropriate.

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience working on a 1:1 basis is desirable.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, although relevant experience will also be considered.
  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
