About the role
Engage Education is recruiting for a caring, dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Oxshott, Surrey from the start of the next academic year. This rewarding role involves providing dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and achieve their full potential within a supportive and inclusive school environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs throughout the school day.
- Supporting the pupil to access classroom learning and differentiated activities.
- Encouraging the development of communication, social and emotional skills.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to implement individual learning strategies.
- Promoting positive behaviour and helping the pupil develop independence and confidence.
- Building a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil and their family where appropriate.
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs in a school or educational setting.
- Experience working on a 1:1 basis is desirable.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, although relevant experience will also be considered.
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
