SEN Learning Support Assistant - Make a Real Difference Every Day
Location: Trafford / Manchester
Salary: Β£95-Β£110 per day, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: September 2026
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
- Support pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to provide personalised support.
- Support pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs and learning difficulties.
- Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
- Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Assist with differentiated learning activities and interventions.
- Implement strategies outlined in pupils' EHCPs and individual support plans.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Encourage engagement and help pupils achieve their individual goals.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND.
- Experience in a school, specialist provision, PRU, care or youth work setting.
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to remain resilient when supporting challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
- Experience supporting pupils with autism, complex needs, SEMH, ADHD or challenging behaviour would be highly desirable.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential where the candidate has relevant experience.
