We are seeking a committed and proactive Safeguarding Officer to join our dedicated team in a welcoming secondary school in the Wigan area. This is a vital role supporting the welfare, safety and wellbeing of all students, ensuring that safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do. The successful candidate will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), pastoral teams, external agencies and families to respond to safeguarding concerns, manage referrals, and ensure effective early intervention strategies are in place. You will play a key role in promoting a safe and supportive environment where all young people can thrive.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Manage and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with school policies and statutory guidance
- Support the DSL with referrals to social care and external agencies
- Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records
- Deliver targeted support to vulnerable students and families
- Promote safeguarding awareness across the school community
- Contribute to attendance, behaviour and pastoral support where required
The ideal candidate will have experience in safeguarding, child protection or pastoral support within an educational or similar setting. You will be calm under pressure, highly organised, and confident in handling sensitive and complex situations.
