Learning Support Assistant – Rochdale Location: Rochdale Salary: £95–£110 per day, depending on experience Contract: Full-time, long-term Start Date: September 2026 Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to overcome barriers to learning? Engage Education are currently recruiting Learning Support Assistants for schools across Rochdale. We are looking for caring, resilient and enthusiastic individuals who want to make a genuine difference to pupils with additional needs. The Role As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils both academically and personally. Your responsibilities may include: * Providing 1:1 and small-group learning support * Supporting pupils with SEN and additional learning needs * Helping students access personalised learning activities * Supporting pupils with SEMH, autism, ADHD and behavioural needs * Building positive and trusting relationships with students * Encouraging confidence, independence and resilience * Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation * Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams * Supporting individual education plans and EHCP outcomes About You We welcome applications from candidates with experience in: * Schools or SEN settings * Teaching or Learning Support * Youth work or mentoring * Sports coaching * Residential or care work * Behaviour support * Working with children or young people You should be calm, patient, resilient and confident when supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour. Previous SEN experience is desirable but not essential — relevant experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals will be considered.
