Engage Education are currently working with a fantastic secondary school in the Rochdale area, who are eager to secure a fantastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant in a long-term MAT cover capacity for the coming academic year.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Key responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in collaboration with teachers, adapting the curriculum to meet the needs of children with SEMH.
- Work one-on-one and in small groups to provide focused learning and emotional support.
- Foster trust and positive relationships with students to encourage confidence and resilience.
- Promote a calm and inclusive classroom environment, using effective strategies to manage behaviour.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement holistic education plans.
- Monitor, assess, and celebrate the achievements of students, ensuring their progress is communicated effectively to staff and parents.
- Assist with classroom preparation, extracurricular activities, and supervision during breaks and outings.
Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Qualifications and skills required:
- A HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- A proven ability to work with children with SEMH needs, including understanding their challenges and how to support them effectively.
- Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and innovative teaching strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- A collaborative mindset, patience, and a genuine desire to make a difference.
