SEN Teaching Assistant – Salford

Location: Salford Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible Salary: Competitive rates of pay

Engage Education are currently recruiting passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools across Salford from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a caring and committed Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them reach their full potential.

You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs to provide tailored support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, independence and social skills.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Support pupils with their learning, communication and social development.
  • Assist children with a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD and SEMH.
  • Follow individual education and behaviour support plans.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff.
  • Encourage pupils to develop independence and confidence.
  • The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is

  • Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
  • Patient, caring and empathetic.
  • Confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Reliable, adaptable and proactive.
  • Able to build positive relationships with children and staff.
  • Experienced working with SEN pupils (desirable but not essential).
  • Committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker or within a specialist education setting is highly desirable.

Graduates and candidates with relevant transferable experience are also encouraged to apply.
