Engage Education are recruiting for a passionate and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, autism and challenging behaviour and is confident helping young people regulate their emotions and engage positively with education.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support children with SEN, SEMH and challenging behaviour
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • De-escalate challenging situations calmly and professionally
  • Follow individual behaviour and support plans
  • Encourage positive engagement with learning
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
  • Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive environment

Essential Requirements

  • Team Teach training is ESSENTIAL for this role.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people
  • Experience working with SEN, SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Valid Team Teach training
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour-management skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people

Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, SEN TA, Learning Mentor, Support Worker or Youth Worker would be highly desirable.
