Job Description
Cover Supervisors Needed in East London
At Engage, we’re working to recruit full-time or part-time cover supervisors to work across a variety of secondary schools in East London from September 2025.
About the role
You will be leading lessons and covering in the absence of class teachers for varying subjects across schools in East London. These schools are committed to innovation and creating a well-balanced learning environment for students.
You can access training via Engage Education if requested. This role involves very little planning and marking. It’s an excellent opportunity to work within supportive schools whose core principles are to challenge, evolve, and nurture pupils.
What a typical day looks like
- Arrival & Sign-in: On arrival, you’ll sign in at reception and receive your timetable for the day.
- Lesson Preparation: Head to your first classroom in time to welcome students.
- Taking the Register: Record attendance promptly at the start of each lesson.
- Delivering the Lesson: Supervise and guide students through pre-planned work left by the class teacher.
- Behaviour Management: Maintain a positive and focused learning environment using the school’s behaviour policy.
- Transition Between Lessons: Move between classrooms according to your timetable, ensuring a smooth start to each session.
- End of Day: Return any completed student work to the appropriate place and sign out.

- Experience working with students aged 11–16
- Flexibility to cover different subjects
- Confidence in managing classroom behaviour
