Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding, long-term opportunity in a mainstream secondary school? We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Stockport from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who is looking to secure a long-term position with the potential to become permanent.

The Role

  • Providing classroom and learning support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Working alongside teachers to support the delivery of engaging lessons
  • Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support where required
  • Supporting students with their learning, confidence and engagement
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Supporting students with additional learning needs where appropriate
  • Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school

About You

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, patient and supportive approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with young people
  • Good classroom management skills
  • The confidence to support students both independently and as part of a wider team
  • A genuine commitment to helping students achieve their potential
  • A professional and reliable approach to work

Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs would be advantageous.
