Engage Education is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream Primary school in Bolton, which is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join its supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs and helping them thrive in a mainstream school environment.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of additional needs, providing tailored support both in and out of the classroom. You will work alongside teaching staff and the school's SEND team to ensure pupils can fully access the curriculum and reach their full potential. The students you will support may have:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Moderate learning difficulties
- Speech, language and communication needs
You may provide one-to-one support, work with small intervention groups, and assist with promoting positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEND (school, care, youth work or similar backgrounds welcome)
- Is patient, empathetic and resilient
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Can adapt their approach to meet individual learning needs
- Is committed to creating an inclusive learning environment
- Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one
