We are seeking a resilient, patient, and compassionate Behaviour Buddy to work within a supportive primary school in Wakefield (WF2). This role is centred around providing dedicated 1:1 support for pupils who display challenging behaviour, helping them to engage positively with learning and develop essential social and emotional skills. This is a highly rewarding position for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in a child’s day-to-day school experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with challenging behaviour
  • Building a strong, trusting relationship to help the pupil feel safe and supported
  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using a calm and patient approach
  • Supporting the pupil to stay engaged with learning activities throughout the day
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement behaviour strategies
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with challenging behaviour, SEN, SEMH, or Autism
  • A calm, resilient, and adaptable approach to behaviour management
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • A genuine passion for supporting children in their learning journey
