Engage Education is currently recruiting an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join a specialist secondary SEND school in Twickenham. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start or change their career while completing a fully funded Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

You will be supporting children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs, and other complex learning profiles. Pupils work at varying academic levels and follow personalised learning pathways designed to support both academic achievement and personal development.

This role is available as soon as possible and combines hands-on classroom experience with structured training delivered during working hours, both in person and online.

Key responsibilities:
  • Supporting pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
  • Assisting teachers with the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons
  • Supporting pupils’ educational, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Preparing and adapting specialist learning resources
  • Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers and parents
Training & Development:

As part of your apprenticeship, you will complete specialist SEND-focused training, including workshops on:

  • The SEND landscape in the UK
  • Safeguarding in SEND settings
  • Adaptive curriculum design
  • Innovative assessment methods
  • Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia
  • Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)

This training will equip you with the skills and confidence to make a meaningful impact in a SEND school environment.

About you:

You do not need previous school-based experience, but you should:

  • Be passionate about supporting children with SEND
  • Be patient, empathetic, and resilient
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Be committed to completing a minimum 12-month apprenticeship
  • Hold GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above)
