Job Description
SEND Teaching Assistant – Edgware
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to reach their full potential? We are looking for a caring and reliable Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Barnet.
About the Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
- Support students with their learning, communication, and social development in and out of the classroom.
- Help students develop independence and life skills.
- Assist with personal care, mobility, and sensory needs where required.
- Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where every young person can thrive.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to support individual learning plans.
About You:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, residential, or care setting).
- Patient, compassionate, and adaptable with a genuine passion for helping others.
- Confident in managing challenging behaviour with a calm and supportive approach.
- Willingness to support with personal care.
- Knowledge of communication systems such as PECS or Makaton is desirable (training can be provided).
- A relevant qualification in Health & Social Care or Supporting Teaching & Learning is an advantage but not essential.
