We are actively recruiting for a SENCO on behalf of an alternative provision school in the Huddersfield area. The role is full time from September 2025 with the potential to extend into the New Year and for it to become a permanent position.

The chosen candidate will be under the direction of the Headteacher and will determine the strategic development of Special Educational Needs Disability (SEND) policy and provision in the school.

  • You will also be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND or those who constitute a vulnerable group.
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies.
  • The SENCO will also be expected to fulfil professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teacher's Pay and Conditions Document.
  • The SENCO will also be the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school.

All applicants require the appropriate qualifications, and all teachers require a formally recognised teaching qualification. All candidates must have a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before starting work. Full assistance will be provided.
