We're seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Leeds. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging music lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).
- Develop and implement an inspiring curriculum that nurtures students' musical skills and appreciation.
- Teach a range of musical disciplines, including theory, composition, performance, and music technology.
- Encourage student participation in extracurricular music activities such as choir, orchestra, and school productions.
- Organise and support school concerts, performances, and external music events.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- A degree in Music or a related subject.
- Experience teaching music in a secondary school setting.
- Strong instrumental and/or vocal skills with the ability to demonstrate and perform.
- Excellent knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Music.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
Desirable:
- Experience teaching A-Level Music or BTEC Music courses.
- Experience leading extracurricular music activities and school performances.
- Knowledge of a broad range of musical genres and cultural influences.
- Ability to play multiple instruments.
