We're seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Leeds. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging music lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).
  • Develop and implement an inspiring curriculum that nurtures students' musical skills and appreciation.
  • Teach a range of musical disciplines, including theory, composition, performance, and music technology.
  • Encourage student participation in extracurricular music activities such as choir, orchestra, and school productions.
  • Organise and support school concerts, performances, and external music events.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A degree in Music or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching music in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong instrumental and/or vocal skills with the ability to demonstrate and perform.
  • Excellent knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Music.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching A-Level Music or BTEC Music courses.
  • Experience leading extracurricular music activities and school performances.
  • Knowledge of a broad range of musical genres and cultural influences.
  • Ability to play multiple instruments.
