Engage Education is recruiting a full-time Special Needs Teaching Assistant for a thriving special school in Bradford. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in Support Work or Residential Care who are looking to transition into an education setting. You will support secondary-aged pupils with Autism, Learning Disabilities, and Physical Disabilities in a structured and supportive school environment. The position is Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30, term time only, making it well suited to candidates seeking consistent full-time hours within the academic calendar.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Class Teacher with lesson delivery and the preparation of learning resources
  • Provide in-class support to pupils, helping to manage behaviour related to Autism, Learning Disabilities, and other SEND needs
  • Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all pupils
  • Follow all school policies, safeguarding procedures, and behaviour frameworks
  • Support pupils with personal care tasks, including feeding and changing, when required

We welcome applicants with experience supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities or Physical Disabilities who are passionate about improving outcomes for pupils with SEND. You will ideally have experience supporting children or adults with Autism or Learning Disabilities within a residential care, supported living, or community support setting. Applications are also encouraged from candidates with previous experience in schools in a similar support role. A proactive and adaptable approach is essential, as you will build strong relationships with pupils and develop an understanding of a wide range of additional needs.
