Job Description

If you are looking for a career change, a Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity to learn whilst working in an exciting and engaging environment. Learning can be delivered in person and online while you work and can be completed within your first year at the school, and even better, the cost of the qualification is covered by your employer. By the end of the apprenticeship, you will hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, and potentially hold HLTA status (Level 4) which is a big stepping stone if you desire to become a qualified teacher further down the line.

About the role:

This Teaching Assistant role is based in an ambitious and thriving special school in North Leeds that caters for pupils with Autism aged between 11-19. They are looking to recruit an enthusiastic apprentice Teaching Assistant for the role starting in September 2025. You will be providing additional support to pupils in the classroom to help raise the levels of attainment.

  • Assisting in the delivery of effective teaching on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
  • Helping with the planning and delivery of lessons
  • Supporting pupils with their educational and behavioural development
  • Preparing classroom resources
  • Providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • Helping with extracurricular activities (e.g. revision sessions)

This is a great role for someone that has maybe already worked as a Support Worker in the Health and Social Care sector, that is now looking to work with children with similar needs on a Monday – Friday term time only basis.

The ideal candidate:

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about helping children with special educational needs their potential
  • Proficient numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to form excellent relationships and rapport with pupils
  • A minimum 12 month commitment required for completion of the courser
