Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

We’re currently looking for a passionate and dedicated HLTA to join an excellent secondary school in Leeds. Supporting students in Key Stage 3 and 4, helping them build confidence and reach their full potential.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Supporting Students

  • Getting to know students and understanding how best to support their learning.
  • Providing tailored support to individuals and small groups to help them stay on track.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with students and setting high expectations.
  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued.

Supporting Teachers

  • Leading small group or whole-class sessions within an agreed lesson framework.
  • Sharing feedback on lessons, student engagement, and classroom behaviour.
  • Helping to keep the learning space organised and running smoothly.
  • Tracking student progress and celebrating their achievements.
  • Taking part in meetings with parents to discuss how students are doing and how they can be supported further.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone who meets the Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) standards or is eager to achieve them within six months of starting.
  • A real passion for education and helping young people succeed.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Relevant qualifications at A-level or equivalent.
  • Experience working with secondary school students.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to inspire and engage pupils.
