Job Description
At Engage Education, we are recruiting Graduate Cover Supervisors across the Leeds area. We work in partnership with a number of secondary schools to provide reliable classroom support when regular teaching staff are absent. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a career in education who want to gain valuable classroom experience.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising pupils and ensuring they complete pre-planned lessons in the absence of a teacher (for example, during sickness or parental leave). Your main role will be to manage the classroom environment, maintain good behaviour, and support students in completing their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising pupils and ensuring they remain on task
- Managing classroom behaviour effectively
- Assisting pupils with questions about their work
- Following the school’s behaviour and safeguarding policies
- Collecting completed work and passing it to the Head of Department
- Providing feedback on lessons and pupil engagement
About You
- Must hold an undergraduate degree in a specific subject (e.g. Chemistry, PE, Business Studies)
- Ideally have previous experience working with young people (e.g. in schools, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or youth work)
- Confident in managing behaviour and engaging pupils in a classroom setting
