Senior Electrical Engineer | Chemicals, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy

ENG Bauen have been engaged by a global industrial energy and technology organisation to identify a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their UK operations and provide specialist technical support to long-term facilities in Central Asia.

As this organisation expands its portfolio of hydrogen and industrial gas assets across the region, this role will play a key part in ensuring electrical reliability, operational integrity, and compliance across multiple complex process facilities. Operating within a global engineering function, you’ll act as the technical authority for electrical systems, providing support on design, operation, and maintenance of high- and low-voltage systems.

This is a critical opportunity for an experienced electrical professional with deep technical insight and hands-on operational experience to play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of large-scale industrial energy assets across the UK and Central Asia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert electrical engineering and operational support across multiple process industry facilities, ensuring reliability and safe operation of HV/LV systems.
  • Lead troubleshooting and maintenance support for electrical assets including protection relays, switchgear, transformers, motors, UPS, VFDs, and PLC systems.
  • Develop and implement electrical safety procedures in compliance with IEC, GOST, and ATEX standards.
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses, defining corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align electrical design and operation standards globally.
  • Mentor on-site engineering and maintenance teams to strengthen technical capability.
  • Undertake periodic travel to Central Asia (approx. 20%) to support on-site assessments and operational interventions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (Chartered status advantageous).
  • 15+ years’ experience in electrical engineering and maintenance support within process industries (industrial gases, petrochemical, or chemical).
  • Deep knowledge of HV/LV distribution systems, protection systems, and condition-based monitoring.
  • Practical experience in HV motor and transformer testing, protection relay secondary testing, and predictive maintenance.
  • Proven understanding of electrical safety legislation and compliance frameworks (IEC, GOST, ATEX).
  • Strong background in reliability-focused maintenance and RCA.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as part of a global operations support function.
