Universal Music Group is a leading music company operating across A&R, finance, legal, digital, sales and marketing. Universal Music UK supports artists, labels and central teams through data, AI and technology initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Support artists and labels across the business in collaboration with the Data & AI team.
- Lead data strategy at a label level as a senior voice within the team.
- Support strategic research with data and audience insight.
- Research and develop data-driven solutions for current and future business problems.
- Use partner data to extract key metrics and provide feedback to label teams.
- Advise on data-related topics to guide business decisions.
- Source, clean and prepare data for modelling, product creation and visualisation.
- Develop datasets and features that become integral to business operations.
- Deliver analysis, reporting and measurement to solve business problems across Universal Music UK.
- Work with stakeholders to define business questions and turn complex data into clear, actionable insight.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, product managers and business teams to improve performance measurement, audience understanding and opportunity identification.
- Shape insight, reporting and data products that support the labels.
Requirements:
- Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insight.
- Apply a creative and commercially minded approach to problem-solving.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement, management and communication skills.
- Lead analytical projects from idea through delivery and adoption.
- Have advanced SQL skills and experience querying large datasets accurately and efficiently.
- Have experience with cloud data platforms such as BigQuery, Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
- Build dashboards, reporting products and self-serve insight tools.
- Understand data modelling, ETL/ELT processes and data quality.
- Have working knowledge of Python or another programming language for analysis.
- Be familiar with Git, version control and modern analytics workflows.
- Understand AI and machine learning concepts and their practical application.
- Mentor others and raise the quality of analytical work across a team.
- Have at least 4 years’ experience in a data analyst, analytics or related role.
- Engage stakeholders in a consultative or analytical capacity.
- Lead analysis that informs business decisions and product development.
- Work with engineering, data science or product teams to turn analysis into scalable tools, reporting or data products.
- Hold a degree in a relevant field or have equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of music repertoire.
- A background in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, Data Science or a similarly analytical discipline.
