Contract: Permanent, full‑time
At enfinium’s Parc Adfer energy‑from‑waste facility, you’ll help keep people safe while supporting a site that turns non‑recyclable waste into reliable, low‑carbon power. If you’re a proactive Health & Safety leader who can influence culture and coach teams, this is your opportunity to have real impact.
Why Parc Adfer?
Parc Adfer is an operational waste‑to‑energy facility that processes up to 200,000 tonnes of non‑recyclable waste each year and generates up to 19 MW of electricity for the National Grid— with robust emissions controls and modern plant systems.
Role based at Weighbridge Road, Deeside, Flintshire, CH5 2GY.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead safety culture: Drive positive behavioural change across the plant— embedding safe systems of work, life‑saving rules, and high standards of compliance.
- Independent oversight: Provide clear, independent governance of site SHEQ matters; set expectations, challenge constructively, and activate risks appropriately.
- Coach and influence: Partner with managers and frontline teams to build understanding of sound SHEQ practice; design practical interventions that stick.
- Contractor management: Plan and oversee activities for 50+ contractors, ensuring inductions, permits, supervision and control measures are robust.
- Standards & systems: Champion CDM regulations, Permit‑to‑Work and Safe Systems of Work; maintain documentation and assurance to ISO frameworks.
- Audit & assurance: Own internal audits and support certification to ISO 45001/18001, tracking actions to closure and sharing lessons learned.
- Incident prevention: Lead risk assessments, investigations and root‑cause analysis; identify trends and deliver targeted improvement plans.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Maintenance and Environmental teams to align safety, quality and compliance across the whole facility.
What you’ll bring:
- Influential leadership: a track record of positively shaping thinking and behaviour— able to win hearts and minds, not just write procedures.
- Ownership mindset: you take accountability and drive actions through to completion when issues are identified.
- Technical competence: conversant with CDM, Permit‑to‑Work and Safe Systems of Work; confident around complex plant and machinery.
- Contractor control: experience managing large contractor populations safely and efficiently.
- Industry background (ideal): engineering or hands‑on experience in power generation or waste facilities (e.g., MRF, Anaerobic Digestion, EfW).
- Qualifications: NEBOSH (or equivalent) and practical experience with ISO 45001/18001 auditing.
- Communication: clear, pragmatic communicator who can tailor messages for shopfloor, management and external stakeholders.
What’s in it for you:
- The chance to lead and shape safety culture at a high‑profile EfW facility.
- Autonomy, visible impact, and support from an experienced leadership team.
- Ongoing professional development and exposure to modern plant technologies.
