We're excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join the team at Ferrybridge 1, one of the UK's largest and most significant Energy from Waste facilities.
Ferrybridge 1 diverts 725,000 tonnes of non-recyclable household and business waste from landfill and export every year, instead generating 86MW of baseload energy; enough to power the equivalent of more than 200,000 UK homes.
This is a high-profile leadership role where you'll be responsible for the maintenance strategy, reliability, performance and continuous improvement of a complex and critical operational facility.
You'll play a key role in ensuring the plant operates safely, efficiently and reliably, whilst leading a skilled and experienced maintenance team.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will lead and coordinate all maintenance activities across the site.
You'll be responsible for managing the maintenance department and ensuring the effective installation, inspection, testing, repair, adjustment and calibration of plant equipment and instrumentation.
You'll also take ownership of the site's preventative maintenance strategy, lead the planning and execution of major plant outages, manage contractors and service agreements, and drive a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

- What You'll Be Doing
- Leading, managing and developing a team comprising Engineers, Maintenance Supervisor, Planner and Maintenance Technicians.
- Ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all plant assets through effective maintenance management.
- Developing, implementing and continually improving preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.
- Leading the planning, coordination and execution of planned plant outages and major maintenance shutdowns.
- Providing technical leadership, analysing operational issues and supporting the resolution of complex technical problems.
- Motivating and developing employees to achieve departmental and site objectives.
- Managing maintenance budgets, resources and performance to ensure value for money and operational effectiveness.
- Selecting, implementing and managing service agreements and contracts with approved service providers for critical assets.
- Overseeing the preparation, authorisation, scheduling and completion of maintenance work orders.
- Developing, maintaining and implementing maintenance procedures and standards.
- Driving plant reliability, asset performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with environmental, health, safety and quality requirements.
- Maintaining compliance with relevant statutory requirements and company policies.
- Managing maintenance contractors and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with CDM Regulations, best practice and company standards.
About You
You'll be an experienced maintenance leader with a strong technical background, excellent people management skills and a passion for delivering safe, reliable plant performance.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified (BSc or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical Engineering or a discipline related to power generation.
- Demonstrable experience leading maintenance teams within power generation, process manufacturing, heavy industry, utilities, energy from waste or similar environments.
- Minimum of 10 years' maintenance management experience.
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance strategy, reliability-centred maintenance and asset management principles.
- Proven experience planning and delivering major plant outages and shutdowns.
- Experience managing maintenance contracts, suppliers and budgets.
- Strong understanding and practical application of CDM Regulations and contractor management within a safety-critical environment.
- Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements relating to industrial operations.
- Strong IT skills and experience using maintenance management systems.
