Join our team as a Transactional Assistant and play a key role in supporting the smooth running of our finance operations. In this varied and fast-paced position, you’ll be responsible for processing and maintaining accurate financial records, supporting transactional activities, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with the Transactions Manager and wider business teams, you’ll help deliver efficient financial administration across accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, reconciliations, and reporting. Key Responsibilities

As a Transactional Assistant, you’ll support the day-to-day transactional finance activities across the business. Here’s what you can expect in this exciting role:

  • Accounts Administration & Processing: You’ll be responsible for processing invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring all financial information is recorded in line with company guidelines and budgetary requirements. You’ll also support VAT recovery by tracking office costs and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Banking & Reconciliations: Manage daily banking duties, complete bank reconciliations, and support weekly weighbridge reconciliations. You’ll also assist with aged debt reporting and reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy across the business.
  • Customer & Supplier Management: You’ll set up and maintain customer and supplier accounts within D365, produce customer invoices and statements, and support credit control activities. You’ll also manage shared inboxes, ensuring queries are handled promptly and professionally.
  • Financial Reporting & Controls: Support weekly and monthly reporting activities, including KPI updates, revenue journals, fuel tonnage reporting, and tracking invoices for payment processing. You’ll work closely with the wider finance team to help maintain robust financial controls and accurate reporting.
  • Administration & Continuous Improvement: Maintain organised and confidential filing systems, including scanning and document management. You’ll also identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with colleagues across departments to resolve accounting queries, support purchasing processes, and assist with additional finance administration duties as required by the business.
Qualifications
  • GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • AAT qualification or currently studying towards AAT
  • Previous experience in a similar finance or accounts environment
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel and finance systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to work
