About The Role
As a Plant Operator you will ensure that you are operating a safe, compliant (legal, regulatory and environmental aspects) and efficient operation of the Plant. As a key member of the shift team you will also be working with other operational staff and maintenance employees.
The successful candidate will act as the Plant AP, assisting the Plant SAP in all safety and operational duties, so that the facility can function as an integrated whole and run at maximum levels of safety, compliance, availability and efficiency.
The role is worked on a rotating shift pattern that includes day-work, weekends and public/bank holidays, and provides shift-rota cover, including stand-by cover as required, to ensure continuous 24/7 operation of the facility.

In a typical shift the successful candidates main tasks and responsibilities are (but not limited to);
- Delivering and maintaining high standards relating to health and safety performance and culture and environmental compliance
- Assisting with plant operations to enable the facility to operate within its Local Authority Project Agreement, Environmental Permit, Planning Conditions and complies with its duty of care responsibilities, whilst fulfilling its contractual and company targets for safety, waste inputs, vehicle turn-around times and residue outputs.
- Assisting SAP and Management in correct usage and monitoring of the corporate safety rules, site safety rules and associated safe systems of work, including authorisations, cancellations, etc.
- Acts as AP for the correct and compliant administration of the site safety rules, including PTW, LOTO, monitoring and all relevant aspects related to a SSOW within a WtE facility.
- Operates / monitors the plant from a Central Control Room, operates plant and equipment as required by the operational demands of the Plant
- Effective use of DCS monitoring and reporting systems to assist in maintaining high levels of plant reliability and performance.
- Carries out boiler, superheater, economiser and FGT on-line cleaning according to agreed frequency schedules and OEM recommendations.
- Carries out water quality testing on both pre and post treatment processes. Adjusts boiler feed water chemical dosing rates to ensure water-steam cycle quality remains within set parameters.
Qualifications & Experience

- Qualified to NVQ Level 4 / ONC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in control room operations.
- Good knowledge of combustion and power generation, preferably having gained experience in apower plant or waste management environment.
