Ready to work on real engineering projects that improve reliability and performance while helping build a more sustainable future? At enfinium, we’re transforming one of the UK’s biggest environmental challenges into a cleaner, more sustainable future. Every day, we convert unrecyclable waste into reliable, homegrown energy, powering homes, businesses and communities while keeping waste out of landfill. Now, we’re looking for the next generation of engineers to help us go even further.

The Placement

This is a 10-12 month, project‑led industrial placement within our Asset Management team. You’ll work with engineers and site teams to deliver practical improvements across our operational facilities—turning analysis into action and seeing the impact of your work.

What You’ll Do

  • Support asset performance and reliability improvement projects (availability, downtime, loss analysis, repeat defects).
  • Help develop clear performance insights and reporting.
  • Contribute to maintenance and reliability initiatives (criticality thinking, failure learning, continuous improvement).
  • Gather and interpret data from multiple sources (work management systems, operational logs, inspections/maintenance records).
  • Produce concise project outputs: short technical reports, recommendations, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Collaborate with site operations/maintenance teams and central engineering to support implementation.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Undergraduate studying Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, C&I, Chemical/Process Engineering.
  • On a sandwich/industrial placement year (typically penultimate year) and returning to study afterwards.
  • Curious, proactive and practical—comfortable working with data and asking “why?”.
  • Confident communicator: able to explain findings clearly and work with different teams.
  • Strong commitment to safety and doing things the right way.

Why Enfinium
