Enfield Council is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Judicial Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Social Worker to join our Community Integrated Learning Disability Service (ILDS).

Responsibilities

  • Undertake Mental Capacity and Best Interests Assessments in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DoLS framework.
  • Identify cases requiring progression to Judicial DoLS and prepare applications to the Court of Protection.
  • Draft high-quality court statements, reports and supporting documentation for judicial scrutiny.
  • Analyse complex evidence and make defensible, legally robust recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with ILDS colleagues, health professionals, care providers, legal services, advocates and families.
  • Monitor existing DoLS authorisations, ensuring compliance and timely review.

Qualifications

  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS, and Court of Protection processes.
  • Experience preparing court documentation and managing complex capacity cases.

Contract: initial temporary contract for a period of 3–6 months, with a view to extension or a permanent position for the right candidate, and a rate which is negotiable depending upon experience.
