Key Responsibilities- Provide practical guidance to schools on attendance policy and the law.
- Advise and support children and their parents/carers on promoting good attendance and punctuality.
- Make recommendations to other agencies to provide vulnerable families with a holistic package of support.
- Promote equality of opportunity for all children to access appropriate educational entitlement.
- Work independently, manage a demanding workload, prioritize tasks and adapt to changing challenges.
- Travel across the borough for home visits, school visits and meetings.
- Attend the office for the first 3 months of appointment and 2 days a week thereafter.
- Experience as an Education Welfare Officer or similar role.
- Good understanding of the education system, especially school attendance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent pension through the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
