We are looking for an experienced internal auditor ready to lead a high‑performing team recognised for the impact and value it delivers. Join Enfield Council and play a key role in strengthening governance, risk management and internal control across the organisation.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, you will take day‑to‑day operational responsibility for managing, supporting and motivating a skilled team of internal auditors. You will lead the delivery of a varied audit plan and work closely with stakeholders across all Council departments, schools, partner organisations and commercial ventures.
- Lead and quality‑assure audit work from planning through to reporting, ensuring recommendations are practical and add value.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with senior leaders and service managers to support improvement and assurance.
- Monitor delivery against deadlines and budgets, balancing competing priorities and emerging risks.
- Support the Head of Internal Audit and deputise as required.
About you
You bring a strong audit background and hold a relevant professional qualification, such as CCAB, CMIIA, CIA, QIAL or equivalent. You are committed to internal audit standards and best practice, ideally with an understanding of the local authority environment, and you are confident managing a complex workload with competing priorities.

What we offer
