We are recruiting a Finance Officer (SO1) to join Enfield Council’s Deputyship Service. The role involves managing a personal caseload of deputyship and appointeeship cases for vulnerable adults who lack the capacity to manage their own financial affairs. You will be responsible for day‑to‑day financial management, preparing applications to the Court of Protection and Department for Work and Pensions, completing statutory financial reports and ensuring all actions are fully documented and compliant with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Care Act 2014. The work is delivered in a person‑centred way, promoting independence while acting in the client’s best interests and meeting all safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a personal caseload of deputyship and appointeeship cases for vulnerable adults who lack the capacity to manage their own financial affairs.
  • Day‑to‑day financial management of cases.
  • Prepare applications to the Court of Protection and Department for Work and Pensions.
  • Complete statutory financial reports and ensure all actions are fully documented and compliant with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Care Act 2014.
  • Deliver work in a person‑centred way, promoting independence while acting in the client’s best interests and meeting all safeguarding responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience in financial administration, banking or financial safeguarding, including direct contact with customers and exposure to complex cases.
  • Confidence managing own workload and applying legislation, regulations and codes of practice in a practical setting.
  • Strong numeracy, organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work empathetically with vulnerable adults.
  • Experience liaising with external bodies such as the Office of the Public Guardian, Court of Protection, DWP, HMRC and financial institutions.
  • Confidence using online banking, finance and case management systems.
  • Willingness to undertake visits within the borough as required.
