Manchester Refugee Support Network is looking for a volunteer with Google Ads / Google Ad Grants experience to help set up and grow its Google Ad Grants account so the charity can reach more supporters, donors and volunteers online.
Google Ad Grants would give MRSN a substantial, ongoing source of free digital advertising that can drive more of the “right” people to the website at key moments, supporting fundraising, volunteering and access to services. Google Ad Grants offers a crucial way to raise more donations by putting MRSN in front of people already searching for ways to support refugees, directing them straight to donation and campaign pages at no media cost. More funding would directly protect and grow MRSN’s frontline work at a time when small charities are under intense pressure from rising costs and soaring demand. Additional income helps prevent cuts to advice, casework and community projects when costs increase faster than funding.
What are we looking for?
- Experience managing Google Ads campaigns, ideally within the Google Ad Grants programme for a charity or nonprofit.
- Good understanding of search marketing fundamentals: keyword research, ad copywriting, campaign structure, quality score, conversion tracking and basic analytics.
- Ability to translate campaign data into clear, actionable insights for a non-technical team.
- An interest in refugee rights, migration, social justice or community-based charities.
- Reliable, organised and comfortable working collaboratively and independently, with good written communication skills for remote collaboration.
What will you be doing?
- Review or set up MRSN’s Google for Nonprofits and Google Ad Grants account, ensuring it meets eligibility and policy requirements.
- Support the design of an initial Google Ads strategy aligned with MRSN’s priorities (e.g. donations, regular giving, newsletter sign-ups, volunteering, event sign-ups, referral traffic from key audiences).
- Monitor performance, make regular optimisations (bids, keywords, negative keywords, ad copy, extensions/assets) and provide simple monthly reports with recommendations.
- Advise the team on best practice for using Google Ads to reach relevant audiences such as potential donors, volunteers and supporters in Greater Manchester and across the UK.
