Job Purpose

The Lead Compliance Engineer will drive product certification and regulatory compliance for EnerSys’ battery systems. This role oversees validation planning, coordinates with UL/Intertek/CSA and internal engineering teams, manages cross-functional efforts, and ensures all testing, documentation, and changes meet regulatory, certification, and customer requirements. The position requires expertise in Li-Ion technology, relevant safety and test standards (UL, IEC, UN38.3), and proven experience delivering results in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, team leadership, and safety awareness are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create validation plans to ensure all regulatory, certification, customer and internal requirements are met for a product.
  • Work with UL/Intertek/CSA to achieve Listings and Recognitions of Products.
  • Work with internal engineering teams to create required documentation for certification.
  • Work with test houses to schedule testing.
  • Support running changes of product lines and deviations including feedback on potential impacts to certification.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications & experience

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience working with an NRTL.
  • Experience in leading and managing a cross-functional team in product development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ Years of Lithium Battery Testing and/or Certification.
  • Experience leading certification with UL/Intertek/CSA.
  • Experience with stationary battery systems.

Skills Requirement

  • Previous experience of working with Li-Ion Technology is essential.
  • Familiar with UN38.3, UL1973, UL2580, UL9540, UL9540A, IEC62616 test standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office program suite.
  • Detailed report writing skills.
  • Previous experience of delivering measurable results in a busy environment.
  • Experience of working with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
  • Good communication skills and able to liaise across all areas of the business.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of safety practices in the workplace.
