Job Purpose
An excellent opportunity for a MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN to join a well-established, exciting, and growing Lithium-ion space business. The company designs, manufactures, and qualifies batteries for international space missions, including satellites, launch vehicles, and interplanetary spacecraft. Its customers include national and international space agencies such as NASA and the European Space Agency, as well as commercial clients, supporting missions related to Earth observation, Internet of Things satellite constellations, and global positioning systems.
Join our team and take a direct role in producing batteries used in missions designed to provide satellite navigation to device or app with real time directions, maps, and traffic updates, helping drivers find routes and avoid congestions.
You have an opportunity to be part of the team producing batteries used in scientific missions where dark energy is studied, differences between Space and Earth environment, Earth care missions, debris removal in Space and many other missions where our batteries are flown in space.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We provide comprehensive training from the ground up, supporting your professional development and giving you full exposure to the entire manufacturing process: starting with battery design and covering all other functions and requirements.
Health & Safety (H&S / EHS / BHP)
- Ensuring the health and safety of all personnel within the area of responsibility at all times
- Adhering to risk assessments and COSHH requirements
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and correct use of PPE
- Accountability for safety of products and hardware, including adherence to required safety measures
- Supporting build process risk reviews and safety assessments
Quality & Compliance (Quality / QMS / Standards)
- Complying with company policies and departmental performance processes
- Supporting updates to the department’s Quality Management System (QMS) and process documentation
- Understanding and applying relevant standards and process guidelines (e.g. BMS processes, ECSS specifications)
- Supporting non-conformance reviews and applying lessons learned
- Supporting project and build documentation review processes
- Ensuring on‑time and on‑quality delivery of assigned tasks and activities
Manufacturing & Assembly Operations
- Setting up and using equipment in preparation for assembly tasks
- Performing manufacturing mechanical tasks, including:
- Spot welding
- Pull testing
- Mechanical assembly
- Application of Kapton tape, adhesives, Arathane and other materials
- Completing all manufacturing documentation during the production process
- Reading, understanding and following build documentation and technical drawings
- Carrying out limited battery testing activities after appropriate training
Cleanroom Operations
- Complying with cleanroom processes and procedures
- Maintaining cleanroom areas in a clean, controlled and operational condition
Training & Competency Development
- Completing all mandatory company training, including cross‑training across departments
- Supporting manufacturing mechanical task training once competent
- Supporting the development, delivery and assessment of manufacturing training documentation
- Raising material and purchase requests to the Manufacturing Team Leader
- Actively communicating task status, processes and activities within the team
Qualifications
- The successful candidate should be able to understand a manufacturing process and activity
- It would be beneficial if they are educated in an engineering subject
- It would be beneficial if they can demonstrate a hands‑on approach to mechanical assembly
Knowledge and Experience
- Expected to have a strong experienced background in assembly operations
- Ideally but not essential to have two to five years of relevant assembly experience. Ideally in Aerospace manufacturing or engineering environment
- A commitment to hardware safety as top priority
- Ideally but not essential to have experience and understanding of basic electrical test equipment functionality
- A strong attention to detail, logical and proactive approach
- Strong adherence to following instructions and tasks
- An ability to work to deadlines
- A business minded and process driven attitude
- Proficient skills with MS Office / Office 365 suite of programs
