Job Purpose
Reporting to the APU Manager, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting production requirements, identifying, and driving process improvements, fully supporting projects from concept through to completion, and ensuring that Planned Preventative Maintenance schedules are implemented.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the Health & Safety of all employees within area of responsibility at all times.
- Assist in daily/weekly H&S audits as required.
- Good understanding of lock out tag out systems.
- Ensure the highest levels of housekeeping within the department are maintained.
- Carry out risk assessments for departmental tasks in conjunction with appropriate skills from within team.
- Contribute to the writing of safe operating procedures for operations within the Department.
- Liaise with fellow employees in all areas to achieve production priorities.
- Monitor scrap and yield trends and implement corrective actions within procedures.
- Ensure all processes and procedures are always adhered to.
- Where necessary ensure all Environmental controls and procedures are religiously carried out.
- Ensure Contractors on site are operating to the Company’s Site Rules.
- Issuing work permits to contractors and tradesman under your control.
- Work closely with Maintenance dept sharing knowledge and upskilling.
Qualifications
- Education Engineering Degree level or equivalent.
- Previous recent experience of delivering measurable results in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Experience of working with Cross-functional Teams to achieve objectives.
- Previous experience of carrying out risk assessments in the workplace and driving resulting actions would be an advantage.
- Good communication skills and able to liaise across all areas of manufacturing.
- Flexible and adaptable to meet demanding business needs.
- Target and objective driven.
- Ideally trained in both an Engineering discipline and the use of Six Sigma tools and methodology.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Minitab data analysis preferred.
- Data driven individual of a proactive nature. Ambitious and career minded individual with minimum of 3 yrs. recent experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Promote teamwork across all disciplines within the Company.
